We are delighted of your interest; a warm welcome.
Welcome to Bertie’s
Open from 7:30am to 6pm, Monday to Friday, throughout the year, Bertie’s is an inspiring, caring day Nursery which provides a wealth of opportunities and acres of green space for children aged from 6 months to school age.
Our setting is unique; Bertie’s is situated in the beautiful, rural parkland of the former Tyntesfield Estate, in the grounds of The Downs Preparatory School, with gardens, forests and carefully designed all-weather outdoor play spaces, our excellent outdoor facilities mean there is always something new to discover, explore, create and learn.
Indoors, our four nursery rooms are thoughtfully designed to encourage your child’s, curiosity, creativity, independence and natural passion for learning at each stage of their development. At the heart of the Bertie’s ethos is our commitment to the development of each individual child in a warm and stimulating environment. We encourage individuality, curiosity and kindness, we want our children to ‘learn through laughter’ to be happy, confident and resilient.
We are in the enviable position of having a highly qualified staff team, including qualified teachers and level 6 practitioners. We have a high staff to children ratio which means we are able to offer a truly child-centred learning environment.
Play is at the heart of everything we do. Through purposeful play children develop the social, emotional and physical skills they need to thrive, they can create adventures, challenge themselves and empathise with others. Our team of experienced staff guide each child’s development responding to their individual needs and interests.
A key person system enables staff to build excellent relationships with their key children and their families resulting in children feeling happy and secure and parents feeling confident and reassured. In order to give you a further insight into your child’s experience at nursery, we use an online system called Parent Zone, where you will be able to see photos and observations of your child’s learning and development.
Our close links with The Downs Preparatory School enables us to take advantage of their full range of facilities, including the Sports Hall, Drama and Dance studios, Theatre, Treehouse and Pet’s Corner within the beautiful school grounds, as well as access to specialist teaching staff.
We appreciate what an enormous decision it is to send your child to nursery and we never underestimate the trust you place in us to look after your children. We feel privileged to work with young, enthusiastic learners and want to work with you to make their time with us as exciting and productive as possible. Childhood is special; when you enter Bertie’s you will see the wonderful environment in which your child can grow and develop.
Please come and visit us. We look forward to meeting you.
